The Chicago Foundation for Mental Health | TCFMH.org
We are “The Chicago Foundation for Mental Health” (TCFMH.org), an Illinois based non-profit and 501(C)(3) organization. Our goal is to offer mental health care in Chicago where there is a large need for care and a lack of accessible options. We offer individual, group, and family therapy. We also offer prevention activities that work to overcome the stigma associated with mental health. We are also partners with different schools across Chicago’s South and West Sides where we offer individual therapy and social emotional learning services.
Culturally Sensitive Approach:
Our foundation is run by clinical psychologists who are skilled at offering culturally sensitive interventions. We know that many times, clinicians who work in communities of color do more harm than good due to not having an intimate appreciation of the community and their struggles. Our doctors are sophisticated and know how to meet people where they are at. We have years and years of experience offering services inside of communities in and around Chicago. We know that each community is different and has unique qualities that make them unique, and we understand that we cannot offer a safe space without working from within the context and cultural framework of our patients' lives.
What We Do
We are mental health clinicians dedicated to providing services in communities that lack access to many basic resources. We work hard to put ourselves in front of at-risk youth as well as adults and families who would otherwise go without care. We know that access to mental health care and many other resources is not the same for everyone. We hope to not only bring healing but to also inspire other professionals to go into communities that are most in need.
